With the new year just around the corner, a lot of people would be starting to think about their New Years resolutions but a lot of people make their resolutions entirely personal. This year, I’d like you to think about your business’s resolutions.
By making New Year’s resolutions for your business as well, you can ensure you’re on track to reach your professional goals as well.
If you’re struggling with creating your goals, here are a few of our favourites.
Put yourself first
As a business owner, I’m almost certain that you’re busy. You have a list of things-to-do and are continually running around. I know what it’s like, I’ve been there too.
The most important New Year’s resolution both professionally and personally is to put yourself first too!
Commit to lunch breaks every single day. Drink plenty of water. Eat nutritious foods. Get sunshine and fresh air daily. Clock off and finish work. Spend time with your friends and family.
We’re human beings before we’re business owners and I think we should all definitely focus on that.
Provide incredible customer service
Providing outstanding customer service is essential for any business. It’s important for you to remember to continue working on ways to improve so that your customers can continue to be happy.
Take some time to sit down and assess your current customer service, is there anywhere you can improve? Perhaps you’re taking a little longer than you’d like to reply to emails or your waiting period is longer than you would like. This is the perfect time to assess what you can do to improve!
I believe that everybody could do with a little extra time in their day, especially business owners. The beginning of the year is the perfect time to assess current processes to ensure everybody is using their time the most productively.
During this process, you can consider what tasks your staff are doing. Are they all doing tasks they are good at and enjoy? Is there any positions you need to change?
You could also assess what could be automated. Are your invoices and reminders sent automatically? Is your tracking and nurturing leads automatic? Is your social media posts uploaded automatically?
Becoming more productive doesn’t always mean you need to work faster or hire new staff, it’s about automating processes and using your staffs skills to your advantage.
If we focus on tasks we enjoy and are good at, we’re using our time wisely. Do you have a list of tasks you don’t enjoy? Maybe their overwhelming or time-consuming? Let’s all agree to start outsourcing.
Take some time to sit down and write down all of the tasks in your business (yes, every single one!). Then make a mark next to the tasks you can’t or don’t want to do any more. You can take this list and find somebody to outsource too!
